PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Clozapine is indicated for the management of severely ill schizophrenic patients who fail to respond adequately to standard drug treatment for schizophrenia.

Clozapine can relieve the positive symptoms of schizophrenia, such as hallucinations, delusions, bizarre behavior, and hostility.1-3  It can also effectively treat the negative symptoms, such as withdrawal, blunted emotions, lack of motivation, and inability to experience pleasure or enjoyment.1-3

The Mylan Brand of Clozapine was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1999 when it was proven bioequivalent to Clozaril*, the first clozapine product available in the United States.4  The Mylan Brand contains the same active ingredient as Clozaril and is available in the same dosage strengths: 25 mg and 100 mg tablets.

For many patients with schizophrenia, The Mylan Brand of Clozapine offers a therapeutic equivalent to Clozaril with the cost savings associated with generic substitution.

Because of the risk of agranulocytosis and granulocytopenia associated with the use of clozapine, Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. has developed a monitoring system called the CLOZAPINE Prescription Access System (CPAS) to help protect patients receiving The Mylan Brand of Clozapine.

Agranulocytosis, granulocytopenia, seizures, orthostatic hypotension, tachycardia, drowsiness, and dizziness have been reported in patients taking clozapine.  For more information, please review the full Prescribing Information, which includes BOXED WARNINGS.
