SECURITY

Our database is protected through a multilayer security system.  First, the entire database, as well as parts of the website itself, are protected through usernames and passwords.  This helps ensure that only authorized visitors can send and view information.  Usernames and passwords ensure that only the current physician and pharmacist can view a patient’s records. 

Then the system is backed by international 128-bit encryption standards using secure socket layers (SSLs).  This technology encrypts information being sent to and received from our database making it virtually impossible for any information to be stolen or intercepted while being transferred.

Cookies

As with many websites on the Internet today, ours uses a feature of your Internet browser (e.g., Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer) called a “cookie.”  Cookies are small text files placed on your computer’s hard drive to which your browser may later refer.  When you are asked to provide certain information for our database, this information may be stored in your cookie file.  This negates the need to reenter information during every visit to our site, thereby enhancing security and making the site more convenient for you to use.  Cookies cannot be used to access secure information on our server . . . this information can only be accessed by using your username and password.

With respect to Patient Privacy Rules under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Mylan CLOZAPINE Prescription Access System is a program mandated by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  This mandate requires the collection of patient information, patient lab data, and the investigation of adverse events.

HIPAA patient privacy regulations permit healthcare professionals to disclose "protected health information" to fulfill certain FDA requirements without consent of the patient.  Please see 45 CFR Section 164.512 (b) (iii); Uses and disclosures for which consent, an authorization, or opportunity to agree or object is not required.
